Technology has been around for quite a while now improving with each generation. It also has different effects on their everyday lives with each generation becoming more and more tech savvy. If you were to compare the impact technology had on people's day to day lives in the Sixties as opposed to now there would be a considerable difference. In the sixties children did not have the luxury of sitting inside all day on a laptop, phone or watching television they had to entertain themselves and go out and socialise. within today's society technology is ruining people's social skills as they are becoming highly reliant on technology to do everything this something that could not be done in the sixties. Everything down to education has been overrun by technology, in the sixties things were done on a chalkboard with books and pencils, now we are reliant on our computers and technology to get through a school day. In the sixties technology was listening to the radio and if you were lucky catching the news on a tv in the shop window unless you were of a high social standard in which you would still not use technology such as the TV half as much as we use it today. Technology challenged the thoughts and beliefs of many people in the sixties as it brought a whole new way of learning and communication and for some especially those in their teen years it brought to their attention the sense of delusion among governments and problems within societies this caused many long protests. today the most watched things by teens are TV shows and music videos and i don't see people protesting TV shows and music videos. people in the sixties did not let technology dominate their lives as we have there lives were barely affected by it, they saw it as something new they probably never imagined it to be such an extreme thing.
Most telephones in the 1960’s were rotary dial and push button phones were only for the upper class because they cost extra for touch tone service. All phones had wires there were no cordless phones or cell phones. Today almost everyone owns a cell phone with a touch screen and home phones that are cordless. This has affected our everyday lives as now we are able to contact people much quicker and more efficiently as opposed to the 60s. Australian society has changed dramatically since the Sixties with technological advancements having a big impact on our daily lives since then.
